CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. — One person was airlifted to a hospital in Rockford following a crash between a vehicle and a semi-tractor in Carroll County on December 4.
According to a news release from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Benson Road on the eastern edge of Lanark around 1:18 p.m. Multiple callers reported a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-tractor.
Initial investigations revealed that Zinnia Larson, 18, of Pearl City, was driving north on Benson Road and stopped at the intersection. Larson then entered the intersection and turned in front of a semi-tractor and trailer traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 52, driven by 53-year-old Christopher Boyd of Franklin Grove.
Larson was airlifted to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for treatment. Boyd was evaluated at the scene and declined transport.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. Lanark Police, Lanark Fire and Ambulance, Shannon Fire and Ambulance, Mount Carroll Ambulance, Light Flight Helicopter, and Northwest Body Towing assisted at the scene.
