A Carmel resident, Devone Cerreiro, is celebrating a major win after claiming a $1 million prize from the New York Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game, officials announced.
Cerreiro chose the lump-sum payment option, receiving $651,010 after required tax withholdings.
He purchased the lucky ticket at Ali’s Lucky Place & Convenience, located at 718 McClean Ave. in Yonkers.
According to the lottery, 11 more $1 million prizes and two $5 million prizes are still unclaimed in the VIP Millions game.
Players can check the latest status of all New York Lottery scratch-off games by downloading the official Game Report from nylottery.ny.gov.
During the 2024–2025 fiscal year, New York Lottery scratch-offs generated more than $4.3 billion in sales, with Putnam County schools receiving over $16.6 million in Lottery Aid to Education funds.
The New York Lottery remains North America’s largest and most profitable lottery, contributing $3.6 billion last fiscal year to support public education across the state.
