PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Nearly $98 million in funding has been approved to enhance roads in Peoria, Bloomington, and Normal.
According to a statement from State Senator Dave Koehler’s office, the funds will be used to improve roads, bridges, and key transportation systems across central Illinois.
“Investing in our infrastructure ensures safer travel and strengthens community connections,” Koehler said. “With this funding, we’re improving daily commutes and laying a stronger foundation for local economies.”
The Peoria Democrat added that the Illinois Department of Transportation’s new six-year, multi-billion-dollar program will invest $50.6 billion in building and repairing transportation networks statewide.
The Rebuild Illinois Program, the state’s largest-ever capital transportation initiative, will fund improvements to roads, bridges, aviation, transit, and other essential infrastructure.
