The winner, Jamshid Shadfar of Worcester, claimed his prize playing the $5,000,000 100X Cashword game. While the game’s top prize is $5 million, Shadfar’s win is still life-changing. He chose the lump sum payout, receiving $650,000 before taxes, and plans to put the money toward his retirement.
The Value Mart on Hamilton Street in Worcester, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive a $10,000 bonus.
Launched on June 13, 2024, the 100X Cashword game offers two $5 million top prizes—one of which has already been claimed—and ten $1 million prizes, including Shadfar’s. According to the Massachusetts Lottery, only one $1 million prize remains.
