MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) — Two people have been detained, and police are searching for a third after officers say a group fled the scene of a crash in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach Police responded Sunday morning to a hit-and-run in the 6700 block of Collins Avenue. Investigators said a white Tesla crashed into a palm tree, with surveillance footage from a nearby restaurant capturing the impact around 8:40 a.m.
Video shared on social media shows two men running from the wreck carrying what appeared to be luggage. Officers later apprehended two of the individuals, while the third remains at large.
Detectives said there is no indication of weapons being involved as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run or the whereabouts of the third suspect is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
