Miami-Dade Man Arrested After Shooting at Driver Following Minor Crash

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested over the weekend after shooting at a driver in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO), the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday near Southwest 168th Street and 110th Court.

Deputies reported that the victim accidentally hit a parked vehicle in the Hammocks area and drove away in shock. He planned to return to the scene but noticed he was being followed by a silver vehicle driven by Yulio Navarro-Morales, 45, and Jose Luaces.

The suspects reportedly cut in front of the victim’s car and Navarro-Morales exited, approaching the victim’s window and yelling for him to stop. The victim, fearing for his life, drove north, at which point Navarro-Morales fired a shot, hitting the rear right bumper of the vehicle.

The victim was not injured. Deputies said Navarro-Morales and Luaces continued to follow him to Southwest 112th Avenue and 168th Street, where Navarro-Morales again blocked the victim and pointed a gun at him until deputies arrived.

Both men were initially detained, but only Navarro-Morales was arrested. The Cuban national faces charges of shooting or throwing a deadly missile and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Navarro-Morales was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
