OHIO — A coordinated violent crime reduction initiative in Cleveland on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, resulted in 16 felony arrests, the seizure of 11 illegally possessed firearms, and the recovery of three stolen vehicles, officials reported.
Governor Mike DeWine said the operation:
“Brings together trained law enforcement officials from across the state to protect the public by removing violent criminals and illegal firearms from our streets. This successful operation demonstrates the strength of our long-term, ongoing partnerships and our focus on holding violent offenders responsible for their actions.”
Launched in 2023 by Gov. DeWine and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, the initiative aims to reduce violent crime in the city. Mayor Bibb added:
“These numbers are more than just statistics; they represent a significant number of violent encounters that were prevented… Consider this a clear message to all those who threaten the safety of our city that you will be held accountable.”

J’Shon Foster Arrested: Cleveland police and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped a red Honda Civic linked to 20-year-old J’Shon Foster at 3:56 p.m. Foster faced six felony charges, including possession of dangerous ordnance, having weapons while under disability, tampering with evidence, and resisting arrest. Foster fled the traffic stop, crashed, and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. Officers recovered an illegally possessed firearm with an extended magazine. Additional charges are pending.

Ohio Investigative Unit: Agents enforcing state alcohol laws made five felony arrests and seized five unlawfully possessed firearms. In one case, officers used a taser to safely arrest an armed suspect who attempted to flee after trespassing at a liquor store in the Kinsman neighborhood.

14-Year-Old Arrested for Vehicle Theft: Shortly before 5 p.m., an OSHP trooper attempted to stop a black Kia Forte reported stolen near East 153rd Street. The teen fled, crashed into another vehicle on Dove Avenue, and was later taken into custody.
