Troy Man Charged with Manslaughter After Fight Over Love Triangle Leaves Another Dead

TROY, N.Y. — A 51-year-old Troy man, Donald G. McIntosh Jr., has been charged with felony second-degree manslaughter following a fight that left another man dead.

Police say the incident began at a Campbell Avenue storage facility Wednesday morning, where McIntosh got into an altercation with another man. A friend attempted to drive the injured man to the hospital, stopping at the Burden Avenue Speedway to call 911. First responders found the victim in cardiac arrest, and he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. McIntosh was located about 20 minutes later on Hill Street.

Deputy Chief Steven Barker said the fight was “in part” due to a romantic dispute involving both men. While an autopsy is pending, no weapon appears to have been used.

McIntosh was arraigned Thursday in Troy City Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail without bail. He is represented by the Rensselaer County Conflict Defender’s Office, which declined to comment due to the case’s preliminary stage.
