Albany, NY (WRGB) — A 16-year-old from Albany has been charged with murder following the death of a 15-year-old boy in a shooting.
Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced a four-count grand jury indictment, which includes second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence. The teen’s name has not been released due to his age.
The shooting occurred on June 23, shortly after 11 PM, on the 500 block of Clinton Ave. near North Lake Ave. Police found the 15-year-old with a gunshot wound to the back. He was treated at the scene and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he later died. Authorities believe the shooter and victim knew each other.
The District Attorney’s Office plans to keep the case in Youth Part but will prosecute the teen as an adult.
