Indiana Nurse Practitioner Arrested in Prescription Fraud Case

A Carmel nurse practitioner has been arrested after an eight-month investigation into fraudulent prescription activities, authorities said.

Katherine Curtis, 34, was taken into custody Thursday by detectives from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Carmel Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Investigators launched the probe earlier this year after multiple pharmacies raised concerns that Curtis, a licensed nurse practitioner, was overprescribing medications and issuing fraudulent prescriptions.

According to detectives, evidence and interviews revealed that Curtis not only overprescribed drugs but also wrote prescriptions using the identities of other nurse practitioners.

Curtis now faces several charges connected to the alleged fraudulent drug practices. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
