The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning residents across the Gulf Coast and Southeast U.S. to prepare for potential tornadoes on Sunday, as a powerful storm system sweeps across the region.

🌀 Tornado Safety Tips

Stay Weather-Ready:
Keep monitoring updates through local news, radio, or a NOAA Weather Radio for tornado watches and warnings.

At Home:
If a tornado warning is issued, move to a basement, interior room, or safe space away from windows. Bring pets if possible.

At Work or School:
Follow your tornado drill procedures, moving calmly to your designated shelter area. Avoid open spaces like gymnasiums or cafeterias.

If Outdoors:
Seek shelter in a sturdy building immediately. Do not remain in mobile homes, sheds, or tents. If no building is nearby, find a low-lying area such as a ditch or ravine for protection.

If in a Vehicle:
Driving during a tornado is dangerous. Head for the nearest shelter if possible. If trapped, lie flat in your car and cover your head, or abandon your vehicle and move to a nearby low area for safety.
