Woman Found Dead in Galesburg; Man Arrested for Murder

GALESBURG, Ill. — A man has been arrested after police discovered a woman dead outside a Galesburg residence over the weekend.

According to the Galesburg Police Department, officers responded to a home around 12:32 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, for a well-being check. Upon arrival, they found a deceased woman outside the residence who appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma. No one else was found inside or near the property.

The scene was processed by Galesburg Police and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit. Authorities said the woman’s identity and cause of death will be confirmed following an autopsy.

The following morning, Monday, October 27, at approximately 8:45 a.m., officers located 29-year-old David L. Nicholson Klingerman Jr. and took him into custody. He was later charged with first-degree murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
