ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. (WRGB) — A Clifton Park woman working as a caretaker is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly stealing and depositing a client’s check, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr. said Josephine Fernandez was arrested on October 27, 2025, following a larceny investigation involving a client of a local home care agency.
Deputies reported that Fernandez, who had been assigned as the victim’s caretaker, allegedly took a check from the client’s home while on duty. The victim was later alerted by Broadview Federal Credit Union that the check had been forged and deposited via ATM into Fernandez’s personal account.
Fernandez now faces several charges, including:

Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree (Class D felony)

Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E felony)

Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information in the Third Degree (Class A misdemeanor)
