Two powerful earthquakes rattled the eastern Caribbean on Monday, with tremors felt across several islands but no reports of injuries or major damage, officials said.
The first quake, measuring 6.5 magnitude, struck in the Atlantic Ocean about 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Guadeloupe at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
A second 6.0 magnitude quake followed shortly after in the same area, also at a depth of 10 kilometers. Residents from Antigua to St. Vincent and the Grenadines reported feeling the tremors.
Authorities confirmed that no tsunami warning was issued.
The quakes come as the Caribbean region faces other natural threats, including Hurricane Melissa, which has caused catastrophic damage in Jamaica and is now heading toward Cuba.
