Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Continue Across South Florida Overnight

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue moving across South Florida through Monday night, bringing the potential for localized flooding in areas already saturated from weekend rainfall, especially in Broward County.

While rainfall totals are not expected to match the weekend’s heavy downpours, additional showers could still cause minor flooding in low-lying spots.

Meanwhile, the NEXT Weather Team is closely monitoring Hurricane Melissa, which has intensified into a Category 5 storm near Jamaica. The hurricane poses no direct threat to South Florida, but it may contribute to dangerous rip currents along the beaches.

Rain chances will gradually decrease by early Tuesday as drier air filters in behind the system.

Looking ahead, South Florida’s first stretch of true fall weather is expected midweek and should continue into the weekend. A pair of cold fronts will usher in sunny skies, lower humidity, and cooler temperatures, with highs around 80°F and overnight lows dipping into the 50s and 60s.
