BOCA RATON, Fla. (WSVN) — A man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries following an apparent shooting on Interstate 95 that shut down northbound lanes near Palmetto Park Road for several hours Wednesday afternoon.
7Skyforce captured aerial footage showing police investigating the scene as traffic was redirected off the highway at Hillsboro Boulevard.
Dispatch audio revealed that a man called authorities, saying he had been shot in the head and was involved in a crash.
Images from the scene showed a box truck stopped on the shoulder and a black SUV a short distance away. The SUV’s passenger window was shattered, and its side appeared marked with white paint. The truck had what looked like a bullet hole near the driver’s window.
The incident caused major traffic delays during rush hour. The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one man was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
