Wife of Chester Highway Superintendent Charged With Deleting Footage After DoorDash Driver Shooting

CHESTER, N.Y. — The wife of Chester Highway Superintendent John Reilly III has been charged with deleting doorbell footage connected to the shooting of a lost DoorDash driver outside their home earlier this year, prosecutors announced.

Selina Nelson-Reilly, 45, was arraigned in Orange County Court on Wednesday, Oct. 29, on charges of hindering prosecution in the second degree and 17 counts of tampering with physical evidence, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Her husband, John Reilly, 48, was previously indicted on charges including attempted murder, assault, and weapons possession for the May 2, 2025 shooting of Alpha Oumar Barry, an unarmed delivery driver who mistakenly approached the couple’s Valerie Drive home.

Prosecutors said Barry, whose phone battery had died, went to the wrong address and asked if the Reillys had ordered food. Reilly allegedly told him to leave, then came outside wearing a shoulder holster and fired multiple shots, hitting Barry in the lower back as he tried to drive away.

Barry underwent emergency surgery, during which doctors removed over two feet of his small intestine.

Investigators later found a .45-caliber Glock pistol, spent shell casings, and seven additional handguns at the home. Although Reilly held a federal firearms license to sell guns, he did not have a New York State pistol permit, authorities said.

The next day, investigators interviewed Nelson-Reilly, who initially claimed she knew nothing about the shooting. Prosecutors allege she later deleted 17 videos from the home’s smart doorbell camera before investigators returned. Text messages showed she told a friend the videos had been “permanently deleted,” according to court documents.

District Attorney David M. Hoovler condemned her alleged actions, calling them an attempt to obstruct justice.

“We will not be thwarted from our pursuit of justice by those who seek to undermine law enforcement’s efforts to uncover the truth,” Hoovler said.

Nelson-Reilly was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on Jan. 5, 2026.

The criminal case against John Reilly remains ongoing.
