Miami residents are preparing for mostly cloudy days ahead, with temperatures staying in the low to mid-80s, according to forecast reports. Humidity dipped briefly Tuesday morning but is expected to climb again over the next several days. The National Weather Service reports today’s high near 81 degrees, with north-northeast winds at 13 to 16 mph and gusts up to 23 mph. Tonight, temperatures will drop to around 73 degrees, with breezy conditions continuing.
The area is also gearing up for another round of king tides beginning this week, coinciding with a supermoon on Tuesday evening. As NBC Miami explains, “The supermoon simply means we are closer to the moon during this orbit, so it’s slightly bigger and brighter in the sky, but that also means slightly higher high tides, too.” These combined events could increase the risk of coastal flooding through the weekend. Coastal flood statements are in effect, and strong winds may further influence water levels during high tide.
Midweek, Wednesday’s forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies with a high near 82 degrees and east winds between 10 and 13 mph, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal averages into the weekend, though heat and humidity will slowly build.
By Friday, there is a 20 percent chance of afternoon showers, with highs around 83 degrees, according to NBC Miami. The weekend will see a slight warming trend, with temperatures in the mid-80s. An approaching front by Monday may break the stable weather pattern, bringing higher humidity and a chance of showers.
