Auburn man ejected in Gage County rollover crash; teen driver cited

CORTLAND, Neb. — An Auburn man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after being ejected from his SUV in a rollover crash in Gage County.

According to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Sixth Street and Highway 77 in Cortland.

Deputies said a 16-year-old male driver ran a stop sign on Sixth Street and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, causing a collision with a 2005 GMC Yukon driven by Dylan Bowland.

Bowland tried to swerve to avoid impact, but his SUV was struck and rolled over multiple times. He was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Bryan West Hospital with injuries. Authorities said he admitted to speeding and not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The teen driver was cited for failure to yield and a stop sign violation but was not injured.

Cortland and Clatonia Rescue crews, along with the Nebraska State Patrol, responded to the scene to provide medical assistance and manage traffic.
