North Texas to Stay Warm Through Saturday Before Strong Cold Front Brings Winter-Like Chill

North Texas will enjoy one more stretch of sunny, unseasonably warm weather before a strong cold front ushers in the coldest air of the season late this weekend.

Friday will bring highs in the low 80s under clear skies, and that warmth will continue into Saturday afternoon. By Saturday evening, however, a powerful cold front will sweep through the region, dramatically changing the weather pattern.

Sunday forecast: Windy and much colder

Behind the front, Sunday will feel like a completely different season. Expect highs only in the mid-to-upper 50s, with gusty north winds up to 35 mph making it feel even colder.

By Sunday night into Monday morning, temperatures will plummet to near freezing across the Metroplex, with some outlying areas dipping into the upper 20s.

First Alert Weather Day issued for Monday

The First Alert weather team has declared Monday a First Alert Weather Day due to the frigid morning lows. The National Weather Service is also expected to issue frost or freeze advisories for parts of the region. Afternoon highs Monday will struggle to reach the mid-50s before a gradual warm-up returns by Tuesday, when temperatures rebound to around 70°F — just in time for Veterans Day.
