WILL COUNTY, Ill – A 10-year-old boy is recovering after a train hit his bicycle near the New Lenox Metra station Monday evening, officials said.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. at Cedar Road as a Chicago-bound Rock Island Line train approached the station.
Although the train struck the boy’s bike, officials confirmed it did not hit him. Paramedics took him to Silver Cross Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities halted train service in both directions for about 90 minutes during the investigation before resuming later that evening.
