CUTLER BAY, Fla. — Authorities arrested a 22-year-old man over the weekend in connection with a road rage shooting in Cutler Bay, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident happened around 11:40 p.m. along U.S. 1 near Caribbean Boulevard. Four victims were traveling north on Southwest 112th Avenue, approaching U.S. 1, when a black four-door sedan pulled in front of their vehicle and stopped.
According to the arrest report, the sedan remained stationary for several minutes before the suspect — identified as Joshua Lamar Woodson of Miami — stepped out and began punching the victims’ car and striking the passenger-side window.
The victims’ driver tried to get away, but Woodson followed them north on U.S. 1. When they stopped at a red light near Caribbean Boulevard, the driver noticed a red laser dot on his neck and immediately heard two gunshots, authorities said.
The driver sped away and called 911, providing a description of the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies later pulled over the car near 183rd Street and U.S. 1 and took Woodson into custody.
Inside the vehicle, deputies found a silver and black firearm with a laser attachment on the passenger-side floorboard and a spent casing nearby, according to the report.
Woodson refused to cooperate during questioning at the Cutler Bay police station and was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. No injuries were reported in the incident.
On Sunday, the victim positively identified Woodson as the gunman in a photo lineup.
Woodson now faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. As of Monday afternoon, Woodson was being held at TGK on a $30,000 bond.
