Man charged in meth lab incident that sent 8 first responders to hospital in Crestwood, Illinois

A Crestwood resident faces charges after authorities say he had methamphetamine inside his apartment during a September incident.

John C. Fiacchino is charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin mushrooms, and reckless conduct.

Crestwood police said that on Sept. 30, first responders went to an apartment in the 12700 block of South Central Avenue for a well-being check. When they arrived, they found Fiacchino unresponsive inside.

During the check, four officers and four firefighters experienced negative effects from fumes coming from something cooking on the stove while they were helping Fiacchino, police said.

A Hazmat team arrived to decontaminate those affected and the apartment.

All eight responders were taken to the hospital and later released. Fiacchino was also taken to the hospital for treatment and later discharged.

After an investigation, Fiacchino was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged.

He was transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing on Wednesday.

No additional details were released.
