Travel ban issued on Ohio Turnpike for certain vehicles due to high winds, rain

The Ohio Turnpike has issued a travel ban for high-profile vehicles because of high winds and rain.

The ban began at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, and will remain in place until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27.

According to the Ohio Turnpike, the ban was put in place due to expected high winds, snow, and rain over the next several days.

High-profile vehicles are defined as those taller than 7 feet 6 inches.

The ban does not affect passenger vehicles, including SUVs and pickup trucks.

Banned vehicles include:

• All high-profile tow-behind trailers, campers, boats, and enclosed trailers. (Fifth wheel trailers are excluded)
• Commercial trucks towing an empty single 53-foot trailer
• All mobile homes, office trailers, and livestock trailers
• All long combination vehicles (LCV) with long double-trailer combinations exceeding 90 feet in length (enclosed trailers only, including Conestoga-type trailers)
• All LCV triple-trailer combinations
• Two-axle buses longer than 40 feet
• Buses with three or more axles longer than 45 feet

The travel ban applies to the entire 241-mile toll road.
