Florida Mom Allegedly Choked and Bit Teen Daughter Over Housework Dispute

MIAMI, Fla. — A Florida mother is facing child abuse charges after allegedly assaulting her 16-year-old daughter in a fight over cleaning, police say.

Jamika Jackson, 36, allegedly became violent the day before Thanksgiving after a verbal dispute with her daughter over a mess in the home, according to a criminal complaint. The teen reported that Jackson slapped her on the mouth, threw her to the floor, and then choked her from behind, making it difficult to breathe.

A witness also stated that Jackson bit the girl on the arm during the altercation. The teen suffered multiple injuries, including a small laceration inside her mouth, a minor abrasion on her throat, and a bite mark on her left arm.

After being read her Miranda rights, Jackson allegedly admitted to becoming upset with her daughter due to her “bad attitude,” confirming that she had slapped, threw, and put the victim in a chokehold.

Jackson has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 23.
