The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that happened Friday on State Road 528 near mile marker 53.
FHP said the crash occurred on the eastbound shoulder of State Road 528, west of State Road 401. A Hyundai Palisade was parked and unoccupied at the time. The person standing outside the SUV was reaching inside when a RAM 1500 veered off the roadway and struck both the vehicle and the individual.
The truck driver did not require transport and stayed at the scene after the crash. The person who was hit was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation.
