Rounds of rain expected throughout Thursday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — Periods of rain showers, along with a few rumbles of thunder, will move through the area throughout the day.

⛈️ Today’s rain:
Rain continues across North Florida and South Georgia this morning and is expected to last into the afternoon. Some heavier downpours are likely, especially later in the day. Widespread thunderstorms are not expected due to limited sunshine, which reduces storm energy. However, a few isolated storms could develop if the sun breaks through in spots this afternoon.

High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 60s across the Big Bend and South Georgia. Persistent clouds and rain will keep temperatures slightly cooler than normal.

🌧️ More showers tonight:
A cold front will move through the Southeast tonight, bringing another round of showers and a few storms. Strong winds higher in the atmosphere could allow a few stronger storms to produce brief gusty winds. Overnight lows will remain mild, settling in the 50s.

Rainfall totals from Thursday through Friday morning are expected to range between 0.75 and 1 inch, with locally higher amounts possible.

On Friday, clouds and a few lingering morning showers may stick around before sunshine returns in the afternoon. Highs will climb near 70 degrees as high pressure begins to build in.

😎 Weekend sun:
Sunshine takes over heading into the weekend as high pressure dominates the southern U.S. Both Saturday and Sunday will start in the 30s, with afternoon temperatures warming into the 70s.

🎄 Christmas week:
Dry conditions and above-average warmth are expected heading into Christmas week. Overnight temperatures will stay in the 40s, with afternoon highs in the 70s, including on Christmas Day.
