As evening temperatures drop to approximately 25°, winds are expected to decrease dramatically, with occasional gusts reaching 18 mph.
Looking ahead to Monday’s weather, Washingtonians could expect increasing clouds, a high of 44°, and calm breezes that will pick up somewhat from the west at approximately 5 mph. The real action appears to be developing for Monday night, with the National Weather Service predicting a chance of rain and snow between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., followed by a chance of simply rain after that time. The temperature will be around 35° with a 40% probability of precipitation, creating the conditions for a potentially slippery early morning commute.
Going into Tuesday, the likelihood of raindrops drops to 20% before 1 p.m., while clouds will remain. The day’s high temperature is predicted to reach 53°, with a gentle southwest breeze blowing at 6 to 9 mph. Residents will get a break on Tuesday night, when the skies clear to partly overcast and temperatures fall to approximately 40°. The weather predicts a mix of sunshine and clouds as the week unfolds, with Wednesday featuring largely sunny conditions and a high approaching 51°.
Washington, D.C. will experience a 30% chance of rain, primarily before 1 p.m., and largely cloudy skies with a high near 52°. Those wanting to stay in the capital for the holidays should keep an umbrella on hand for Thursday night and Friday, as the possibility of rain persists, potentially disrupting holiday plans with intermittent bouts of rainfall. Warmth will arrive, with Friday’s high perhaps reaching 59°. The weather is forecast to calm down by the following Saturday, with partly sunny skies and a high of 49°, capping up the holiday week in a pretty peaceful fashion.
