Police Chase from Illinois Ends in Fatal Crash in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A police pursuit that began in Illinois ended tragically Sunday morning when a vehicle crashed on Interstate 70, killing the driver.

  • The chase began around 5:15 a.m. when a Fairmount City Police officer attempted a traffic stop. The driver, a 29-year-old woman identified as Precious Black, initially stopped but then drove off while the officer tried to remove her from the car.

  • The officer was dragged briefly before returning to his patrol car and pursuing the vehicle into north St. Louis City.

  • During the chase on Interstate 70, the officer lost sight of the car. It was later found crashed into a guardrail and light pole near the West Florissant Avenue exit.
