The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has issued a flooding evacuation alert due to rising water levels on the South Yuba River.
Due to the severe rain, the area between Donner Pass Road and Cisco Road has been issued an evacuation warning, and additional flooding is possible with little notice.
At around 1:15 p.m., one home with nine people inside was evacuated. All other properties in the neighborhood remain under evacuation orders.
The sheriff’s office has pre-positioned the following resources throughout the county to ensure swift reaction if conditions deteriorate:
- Snowcats staged in Auburn
- Snowmobiles staged in Foresthill and Colfax
- Tahoe-area snowmobiles staged
- Dive team is on standby and ready to respond
Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas are advised to plan ahead of time. Sandbags are provided at the following places in Placer County:
- North Auburn: Placer County Fire Station 180, 11645 Atwood Road
- Auburn: School Park Preserve, 55 College Way
- Lincoln: Lincoln Library (east side) and Joiner Park (east side)
- Loomis: McBean Park, Rippey Road & Mandarin Court
- ForestHill: Foresthill Fire Station 90, 20540 Foresthill Road
- Granite Bay: South Placer Fire Station 17, 6900 Eureka Road
- Dry Creek: Placer County Fire Station 100, 8350 Cook Riolo Road
