Heavy Snow And Mixed Precipitation Expected In Tri-state Friday Night Into Saturday

An AccuWeather Alert will be issued Friday night for a storm system moving in from the Ohio River Valley, which could deliver extensive snow to New York City and the Tri-State area.

The storm is predicted to move through the Tri-State area Friday afternoon, with the brunt of it arriving Friday night, potentially causing difficult travel for evening commuters.

Snow accumulation is possible for much of the area, with one early-call snowfall map showing 3-6 inches for our area, including New York City.

The heaviest accumulations might occur north and west of the city, with Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and Pike counties, as well as sections of northeastern New Jersey, receiving more than six inches.

There could be some mixing in central and southern New Jersey, particularly places south of I-95, where totals will be reduced due to the lack of clean snow.

Snow may eventually transition to a mix across the city by Saturday morning as the storm subsides, but driving may remain challenging.
