Manteno police are asking for the public’s help to locate a man who walked away from a crashed vehicle early Friday, raising concerns about possible injuries.
According to the Manteno Police Department, 35-year-old Jarrod Nicholson was last seen shortly after a single-vehicle crash near Route 50 around 1:40 a.m. Investigators said Nicholson left the crashed vehicle on foot and may be injured.
Police reported Nicholson was seen walking north from the crash site. At the time he disappeared, he was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.
Authorities have not released details about what caused the crash or the exact location along Route 50. The incident occurred during overnight hours, when visibility is limited. Officers said they began searching for Nicholson shortly after the crash was reported.
Police emphasized that Nicholson’s safety is their top concern, noting that leaving a crash scene on foot can be dangerous, especially if injuries are involved or if a person becomes disoriented.
Anyone who may have seen Nicholson walking along Route 50 or nearby roads early Friday, or who has had contact with him since the crash, is urged to contact authorities.
Manteno police ask anyone with information to call dispatch at 815-933-3324, or dial 911 if Nicholson is spotted. Route 50 is a heavily traveled corridor for early-morning commuters in Kankakee County, and police said even small details could help bring Nicholson home safely.
