Thousands without power in Florida

FLORIDA — Thousands of Florida residents were without electricity Tuesday evening, according to data from PowerOutage.com.

As of the latest update Tuesday night, about 4,880 customers statewide were reported without power out of more than 11.7 million customers tracked across Florida. While the overall outage percentage remained low, several counties reported notable numbers of customers without service.

Pasco County had the highest number of outages, affecting 3,223 customers. Other counties with reported outages included Manatee County with 489 customers without power, Monroe County with 288, and Hillsborough County with 141. Smaller outages were also reported in Seminole County, Okaloosa County, Palm Beach County, and Osceola County.

The cause of the outages was not immediately identified, though power disruptions in Florida are often tied to storms, equipment problems, or vehicle-related incidents. Utility crews were working to restore service in affected areas.

Residents experiencing outages are encouraged to report them directly to their electric utility and to use caution around downed power lines.
