Man and Two Children Killed After Two-Vehicle Crash on Quail Roost Drive in Miami-Dade: FHP

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man and two children were killed Friday in a car crash in South Miami Heights, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a man and a child riding in a black Lexus sedan died after the crash in the eastbound lanes of Quail Roost Drive at Southwest 117th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue flew another injured child from a gray GMC SUV to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital by helicopter. The child later died at the hospital, FHP reported.

Investigators said the GMC had rear-end damage, and the black Lexus came to rest facing the opposite direction.

Deputies from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office assisted FHP, which is leading the investigation, Detective Samantha Choon said.

The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. Troopers temporarily closed Quail Roost Drive, also known as State Road 994, but reopened it by 11 p.m.
