Three cold fronts bring repeated chills, rain possible Wednesday night

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) — Three separate cold fronts are expected to move through Florida over the next seven days, bringing progressively cooler air and at least one chance for rain. The first front arrives today, and while a few showers are possible, most of the Suncoast is expected to remain dry.

Highs today
Temperatures today will remain mild, but conditions will change noticeably overnight. Monday morning will feel much cooler, with crisp air and no fog expected. Low temperatures will fall into the 40s and 50s. Cloudy and cool conditions are forecast to persist through Tuesday and Wednesday.

The strongest cold front arrives Wednesday night, bringing scattered showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms through early Thursday morning. Skies are expected to clear by Thursday afternoon.

Highs Friday
The coldest air of the week arrives late in the week. Friday morning lows are expected to drop into the 30s and 40s, while daytime highs on Thursday and Friday will struggle to climb out of the 60s. A third cold front is forecast to move into the Suncoast next weekend, though this final front is expected to have very little moisture.

Outdoor recreation impacts
Conditions for tennis, pickleball, and golf courts and courses will change today as windy weather develops Sunday afternoon with the passage of the cold front. An isolated shower is also possible.

Beach conditions
Beach conditions will deteriorate Sunday as the front moves through the Suncoast. Winds will be from the north and northwest at 5 to 10 mph in the morning, increasing to 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph by the afternoon. The rip current risk will rise to high levels Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday morning. An isolated shower may accompany the front. Cooler conditions are expected next week, with another chance of showers by midweek.

Boating conditions
Boating conditions will also worsen as small craft advisories take effect due to strengthening winds. Northwest winds will increase from 5 to 10 knots to around 20 knots, with gusts up to 25 knots. Choppy conditions are expected through Monday. Seas Sunday afternoon will range from 2 to 4 feet, occasionally reaching 5 feet.
