Man Dies After Shooting on Southeastern Avenue in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man died at a hospital after being shot Sunday morning near the intersection of Southeastern Avenue and South Emerson Avenue, Indianapolis police said.

Officers responded shortly after 11:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of Southeastern Avenue but initially could not locate any victims. The man later arrived at Community East Hospital with gunshot wounds and died, IMPD said in a notification just after 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police later identified a location on Southeastern Avenue as a potential crime scene connected to the shooting. A person who was initially detained has been released following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

No further details have been released. An IMPD public information officer was on the scene to provide updates.
