‘Cowards’ Kill 3-Year-Old at Sesame Street-Themed Birthday Party in Drive-By Shooting

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A 3-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting at a Sesame Street-themed birthday party after a dispute between men, police say. More than 20 shots were fired at a “patron” the suspects were targeting.

Fort Lauderdale police announced Thursday that the investigation into Rylo Yancy’s July 2024 death has concluded and all suspects are now in custody facing murder charges.

Andrew St. Louis, arrested in Tennessee, appeared in court Saturday and is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit murder with a firearm. Co-suspects Tommie Allen, 19; Antonio Carter, 20; and Tyler Hollins, 21, face the same charges. A fifth suspect, Thaddeus Squire III, was arrested as an accessory after the fact.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. at Riverland Park, 950 SW 27th Avenue. Investigators said two vehicles were involved: a 2022 red Mercedes-Benz sedan and a 2017 black Mercedes-Benz sedan.

Squire told police he was driving one of the vehicles with Hollins, who acted as the “trigger person.” A witness confirmed seeing the pair earlier in the day. Court documents detail that the suspects were showing firearms, joking about shooting, and allegedly targeted a man they had a dispute with after seeing his social media post.

Squire admitted to a witness that their plan was to target someone they had a “beef” with, but the bullets struck Rylo instead.

Rylo’s grandfather, Herrold Pough, told WPLG, “I can never heal, just when you think you are getting over it the rain comes storming again.”

FLPD Sgt. Don Geiger called the killing senseless: “Because of the acts of these cowards right here, a baby is killed because they had a beef with someone else at the party and they couldn’t control their anger.”
