Pittsfield Woman Hospitalized After Rock Crashes Through Windshield on Cheshire Road

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Pittsfield woman suffered serious injuries Monday when a rock fell from a truck and smashed through her windshield on Cheshire Road.

Police said the crash occurred around 1 p.m. near 341 Cheshire Road. A 2013 Ford F550 was exiting a driveway in the 300 block and heading south when a rock from its load went airborne and hit the windshield of a 2013 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound.

The impact reportedly struck the driver, causing her to lose control and veer off the road into a ravine on the east side of Cheshire Road.

Firefighters used mechanical equipment to free the woman from the vehicle. She was first taken to Berkshire Medical Center and later transferred to Baystate Medical Center.

The incident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to contact Lt. Marc Maddalena at 413-448-9700 ext. 575.
