An Adrian man was arrested early on October 24 after allegedly hitting a moped on US-127, seriously injuring a teenager, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).
The crash occurred just after midnight near Manitou Road in Rollin Township. Deputies said the man was traveling northbound when his vehicle struck the moped from behind, ejecting both riders, a 17-year-old male from Jackson and a 17-year-old female from Hudson, who were both wearing helmets.
The driver reportedly fled southbound, dragging the moped several miles before police stopped and arrested him.
The male moped operator suffered minor injuries, while the female passenger was seriously hurt and transported to Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
