Adrian woman killed after pickup runs red light in Lenawee County, sheriff’s office says

A 54-year-old Adrian woman died Saturday after a pickup truck ran a red light and hit her vehicle in Tecumseh Township, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the intersection of M-50 and M-52 at 4:29 p.m. Saturday. Investigators say the woman was driving south on M-52 with a green light when a westbound pickup went through a red light on M-50 and struck her car. She was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The pickup’s driver, a 20-year-old man from the Traverse City area, and his 23-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors. Because of the fast response by first responders, it is unclear whether anyone involved was wearing a seat belt.

The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the crash.
