Another Gloomy Day Ahead Before Cool, Windy Conditions Midweek

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) — The new week will start off cool and cloudy before windy conditions sweep in by Tuesday.

Temperatures stayed in the 50s Sunday after morning fog lingered into the afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies kept things gloomy, and the same trend continues Monday. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s, with some 30s possible in western areas where skies clear slightly. Patchy fog could return early Monday before a disturbance from the west brings scattered showers in the afternoon and evening. Central Nebraska will likely see on-and-off showers into early Tuesday, with highs remaining in the low to mid-50s. Western Nebraska may reach the upper 50s to low 60s where clouds are thinner.

By Tuesday, winds strengthen behind the system, gusting 35–45 mph in the afternoon. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low to mid-50s. Winds will stay strong into Wednesday, gradually easing later in the day as highs cool to the upper 40s and low 50s.

The rest of the week looks dry and sunny, with temperatures rebounding to the mid to upper 50s Thursday and mid-50s Friday. Morning lows from Thursday through Saturday will fall into the mid-20s to low 30s, marking the first freeze or hard freeze for many areas.

Next weekend, highs will reach the upper 50s Saturday and low 60s Sunday. Don’t forget — Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning, so set your clocks back an hour.

Looking ahead, dry conditions are expected through the first week of November, with comfortable highs in the mid-50s to low 60s. A few weak systems may pass through, but significant precipitation appears unlikely for now.
