A 42-year-old Brighton man faces several felony and misdemeanor charges following a domestic violence incident in northeast Jefferson County on Sunday, September 21.
Michael Sines was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation into an assault at a residence that day. Court documents indicate the incident involved a weapon being discharged and left the victim injured.
According to an affidavit, deputies were notified at 2:02 PM after a female victim reported being assaulted earlier that morning. The victim, who had already received medical treatment, met with investigators at the Jefferson County Law Center.
She described an argument with Sines that escalated into a two-hour physical altercation. During the incident, she alleged that Sines:
-
Punched her multiple times in the head
-
Kicked her in the ribs
-
Prevented her from leaving the residence despite repeated requests
-
Threatened her with a 20-gauge shotgun by pressing the muzzle against her chest and head
-
Fired a shot into the bedroom ceiling
The couple’s 13-year-old daughter was present during the altercation and attempted to intervene. Investigators documented visible injuries on the victim, including bruising and redness on her face, hands, arms, and chest. A circular red mark on her chest was consistent with the shotgun barrel being pressed against it. The victim also reported partial hearing loss on her right side from the head punches and provided hospital documentation to support her claims.
Arrest warrants were issued for Sines on the following charges:
Felonies:
-
Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon (Class C)
-
Willful Injury – Causing Serious Injury (Class C)
