Decision time
HARTINGTON – With just under a week until election day, nearly 25 percent of Cedar County's eligible voters have already cast ballots.
Cedar County Clerk Jessica Schmit said she mailed out 5,500 ballots on April 24. As of Tuesday morning, more than 1,700 ballots had been received back at the Clerk's office.
Jones murder trial is moved to Dakota County
HARTINGTON – The trial of a Laurel man charged with four counts of murder will be heard in Dakota County.
District Court Judge Bryan Meismer ruled the trial of Jason Jones, 44, Laurel, will change venue due to the amount of publicity in the case in relation to the size of the community involved.
Hartington should continue to build on its history
T here has been quite a lot of talk about the Skylon Ballroom since the Hartington City Council first floated the idea of moving the 72-yearold structure and refurbishing it to be used as a community center.
There are, indeed, many pros and cons to the idea.
Some folks say the Skylon’s history will help it attract a crowd.
