Cold Temperatures Grip South Florida and the Keys

MIAMI, Fla. — A strong cold front will move through South Florida on Monday, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures just in time for Veterans Day.

By Tuesday morning, temperatures are forecast to plunge to near-record lows, with mid-to-upper 40s expected across Broward and Miami-Dade metro areas.

Breezy winds will make it feel even colder, with “feels like” temperatures briefly dipping into the lower 40s. The Florida Keys will also feel the chill, waking up to lows in the lower to mid-50s — a rare November occurrence.

The last time South Florida saw November lows below 50 degrees was back in 2018.

Behind the front, the cold air will keep Tuesday’s high temperatures below 70 degrees, with brisk winds increasing the risk of rip currents through Tuesday evening.

Boaters should exercise caution, as seas of 9 to 14 feet are expected due to the strong winds. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday morning for Atlantic waters near South Florida.

Fortunately, this cold snap will be short-lived. Temperatures are expected to rebound to near-normal by Thursday, with dry and comfortable weather continuing into the weekend.
