Miami Beach, FL — Drivers and pedestrians traveling through Miami Beach should brace for major traffic disruptions today, Tuesday, as officials announce intermittent road closures along a busy stretch of Collins Avenue.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said intermittent closures will take place Tuesday, December 31, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Collins Avenue between 93rd Street and 96th Street. During these periods, authorities will not allow any vehicle or pedestrian traffic through the affected area.
Officials warned that the closures are expected to cause delays across the surrounding neighborhood, especially during peak daytime hours. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes to reduce congestion.
The impacted portion of Collins Avenue runs through a heavily traveled area of Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, near residential buildings, hotels, and beach access points. Drivers traveling to and from North Beach and nearby areas may see backups as traffic is diverted.
The sheriff’s office did not disclose the reason for the closures but noted that the intermittent shutdowns could happen multiple times throughout the day, meaning the road may reopen and close again between morning and late afternoon.
Residents, commuters, and visitors are advised to monitor local traffic updates and follow posted signs or directions from law enforcement. Rideshare users and delivery drivers should also expect delays.
