Coral Springs Man Charged in Road Rage Incident That Left Woman Hospitalized, Police Say

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — A 68-year-old Coral Springs man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges following a road rage incident that left a woman hospitalized, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Howard Elliot Seiler is charged with felony burglary with assault or battery and misdemeanor battery after a confrontation on Dec. 2 in Parkland that was captured on cellphone video, investigators said.

According to an arrest report, the victim was driving eastbound on the 9600 block of Hillsboro Boulevard when she slowed to yield to bicyclists. Seiler, who was driving a Mercedes behind her, allegedly cut in front of her vehicle and stopped abruptly.

The victim told investigators that Seiler exited his vehicle, opened her driver’s side door, and grabbed her by the arms. She then got out of her car to confront him, the report states.

Police said an independent witness and cellphone video provided additional details. The video reportedly shows a verbal argument in the roadway that escalated when Seiler pushed the victim.

Investigators said the victim attempted to return to her vehicle, but Seiler followed her. As she tried to get back inside, Seiler allegedly slammed the driver’s side door, striking her on the right side of her forehead and causing a large bruise.

Seiler then left the scene without checking on the victim, police said. She was transported to Coral Springs Medical Center for treatment.

According to records, Seiler later viewed the video while in police custody and confirmed he was the individual shown in the footage.

Seiler has pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was released from the Broward County Main Jail after posting a $15,000 bond. A judge modified his pretrial release conditions on Dec. 12, allowing him to resume driving.
