Crucian man arrested in St. Thomas on Florida attempted murder warrant

Federal officials at Cyril E. King Airport detained a St. Croix man wanted for attempted murder in Florida on Monday.

Abijah Antonio Javois, 21, allegedly opened fire on people sitting in a car in Orange County, Florida, on Nov. 10, according to the sheriff’s department. A warrant for his arrest was issued three days later.

Port Authority officials arrested Javois around 4:30 p.m. and held him pending potential extradition to Florida, where he faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Court records show that after his initial arrest on Nov. 10, Javois was expected to surrender to police the following day.
