Authorities in Pulaski County, Illinois are alerting drivers to a fatal crash on Interstate 57.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, motorists should avoid Shawnee College Road between I-57 and Highway 37 due to the incident.
Officials warn that traffic delays are expected to last for an extended period.
The Illinois State Police said the deadly crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday on the northbound lanes near mile marker 18.
Investigators reported that a vehicle ran off the roadway and came to rest near the Cache River.
As a result, northbound traffic on I-57 is being diverted at the Ullin exit.
