MUSCATINE, Iowa — Police are investigating after the body of a man was found Friday morning in a ravine off Fletcher Street Hill, also known as Miller’s Hill.

According to the Muscatine Police Department, officers responded around 8:09 a.m. on October 3 after a passerby reported seeing a body. When officers arrived, they found a badly decomposed man in a deep ravine beside the road. A bicycle was discovered nearby. The Iowa State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.

Early findings suggest the man was riding down Fletcher Hill, lost control, and veered off the road into the wooded ravine. Investigators said foul play is not suspected at this time.

The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Michael Hargrove. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone who had contact with Hargrove within the past week to reach out to Detective Raisbeck at (563) 263-9922, ext. 665.
