Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into Home in Southwest Miami-Dade

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) — A driver was hospitalized Monday afternoon after crashing their car into a home in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue units rushed to the scene near Southwest 34th Street and 82nd Avenue.

7News cameras showed the vehicle lodged in the side of the house as fire crews worked to rescue the trapped driver.

The collision was so intense that chunks of concrete scattered across the yard, with some debris landing on the roof.

The homeowner said the crash destroyed her master bathroom and closet, but she feels grateful to be alive.

“I was right here. I didn’t even look back — I just ran,” she told 7News in Spanish.

Firefighters pulled the injured driver from the wrecked black sedan and took them to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. Their condition remains unknown.

A tow truck later removed the mangled car, while workers boarded up the gaping hole left in the house.

The homeowner thanked God for her safety, saying material things can be replaced, but life cannot.

Firefighters and deputies kept 82nd Avenue closed for hours as they investigated the crash.

Neighbors said they were stunned by the incident.

“There were a lot of ambulances, a lot of cops, a lot of people — they shut down the whole road,” said resident Santiago Gomez.

“It’s scary to think someone could just crash into your house out of nowhere,” added resident Mario Rejas.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the crash.

The homeowner said she’s waiting to find out if her home will be deemed unsafe and where she’ll spend the night.
